そのへんは俺がすべての責任をとるよ

神崎先生のブログで、TOEIC１２０回目の感想で以下のようにありました。

Part 5：超難
稀にみる難しさ、というか過去最難と言ってもいいくらいの難しさ。迷った問題が5～6問あり、40問に20分かかった。

"take complete responsibilities" 13,900 hits

受験していないのでこの問題についてはコメントできませんが、村上春樹1Q84での「そのへんは俺がすべての責任をとるよ」の訳としてI'll take complete responsibility.とありました。

「だから案ずることはない。今日からさっそく作業を始めてかまわない」
「小松さんがそう言うのなら、僕はかまいません。見込み発車でものごとを始めて、あとで『あれは無駄骨だったね』みたいなことになりたくなかっただけです」
「そのへんは俺がすべての責任をとるよ」

“All I'm saying is, don't worry. You can start the job today.”
“If you say so, it's fine with me. I was just trying to avoid kicking myself for starting too early.”
“Let me worry about that. I'll take complete responsibility.”

辞書によって可算・不可算の分類は違っていますが、ルミナスの分け方は「責任」の意味は不可算、「職務」の意味は可算としています。個人的にはこの分類である程度はカバーできると思っています。

ロングマンも似たような分類です。

ロングマンにあるMy responsibilities includeの例文のようにTOEICでも複数形の場合はすべて「職務」「職責」の意味でした。「職務」「職責」とすると硬いので出る語句にあるように「仕事内容」とか「担当」のように捉えればしっくりくるでしょう。

求人広告において、Responsibilities include　〜「仕事内容は〜を含む」のように用いられる。be responsible for 〜「〜に責任がある」は重要表現。

韓国ETSの語彙本VOCAもこのかたちの例文を紹介しています。日本の公式vol2パート７にある文章です。

Your responsibilities will include maintenance of and upgrades to the company's computer network.

ついでに柴田先生の『入門ビジネス英語』のLesson2でresponsible forの解説があったので合わせて紹介します。ビジネス英語の初歩として定番のものですね。

I’m in charge of overseas projects.
海外プロジェクトを担当しています。

仕事について語る時の必須表現です。同様に、responsibilityの形容詞responsibleを使ったI’m response for 〜という表現もよく使います。今日のフレーズも、I’m responsible for overseas projects.と言い換えることができます。また、リチャードの発言のI’m responsible for our legal department.のようにresponsible forのあとに部署を続ける場合は「（その部署の）責任者」であることを意味します。

単複、可算・不可算の区別も大切なことではありますが、仕事内容を伝えるさいの表現にも慣れておきたいです。
