TOEIC新形式 表現の意図を問う問題について

サンプル問題が“I can’t believe it!”だったので多義性を帯びる短いフレーズが出題されると思ったら10語を超える文もあったりして初学者には先読みも大変になりますね。明確な対策は取りにくい感じで、これまでの頻出トピックとそこで使われる表現をニュアンスまで含めてしっかりと学んでいくというオーソドックスな方法の方が近道かもしれません。

パート4のTest2の80-82の問題なんかも典型的な受賞スピーチを抑えておけば瞬殺できるものです。Test1の86-88の問題にも登場している表現ですので、お礼を述べる場合に頻出するものと言えそうです。今年のアカデミー賞でも登場していました。

When Alicia Vikander won Best Supporting Actress for "The Danish Girl," she thanked co-star Eddie Redmayne for "being the best acting partner."

"I couldn't have done it without you," she said. "You raised my game."

She also thanked her parents "for giving me the belief that anything can happen. Even though I never would have believed this."

成功に不可欠だった人、多大な貢献をした人に感謝を述べるこの表現はがっちり決まったものではなくいろいろバリエーションがあるので柔軟に対応できるようにしたいです。TOEICで登場していたのは以下のようなものでした。

公開テストではどのような表現が問題として採用されるか気になるところですね。短い表現なのか、問題集のように長い表現なのか、それによって試験後の感想も違ったものになりそうです。
