mailerって何ですか？

5セット入っている新形式TOEIC公式模試のTest3にpromotional materialsを扱う業者の広告に以下のような文がありました。

We invite you to visit our store and take a look at hundreds of sample cards, mailers, and brochures, all of which can be customized for your specific products or services.

mailerってなんだろうと思ったら辞書では以下のような語義を説明しています。

封筒との違いはと思った方、Office Depotの商品画面を見ると一発です。プチプチが入ってたりして内容物が破損しないようにしています。ちなみにプチプチ入りの封筒はbubble mailerと呼ぶそうです。

もしかしたら、以下のような商品かもしれません。

このような商品だったら、sample cards, mailers, and brochuresとカードとパンプレットに挟まれていても違和感がないですよね。

まあ、mailerはTOEICで登場する機会はほとんどないですし、普通のオフィスでの会話だったら「(破損しやすいものを郵送する時に使う)封筒[容器]」の意味で使われるでしょう。今回のような意味は販促関連のシチュエーションに限られるでしょうね。
