（小ネタ）英語には姓と名前に登場するものがある

先ほど取り上げたThomasという名前。名前の印象が強かったですが苗字でも使われるんですね。

TOEICでも苗字と名前の両方で登場していました。ただ、我々の感覚どおり名前で使われる方が多かったです。

こちらのサイトによるとこの名前が使われたピークは1940年だとか。それ以降だんだん使われなくなっているようです。日本でいうと戦時中に多かった名前「勝」「勇」「進」のようなイメージなのでしょうか。
