このコメントの訳について、テレビ朝日とTBSを比較しています。TBSはざっくり訳し過ぎですよね（苦笑）with some degree of varying confidenceとかon a small scaleとか慎重に語っているところがざっくり切られて、断定している印象を与えてしまわないか心配です。15秒あるのだからテロップを2枚使って、もう少し詳しく訳せたのではないでしょうか。

（テレビ朝日）
　ヘーゲル国防長官：「アメリカの情報機関は、情報の信頼性にばらつきはあるが、シリアの政権は小規模な化学兵器、サリンを使用したと判断している」

（TBS）
　「アメリカの情報機関は、シリアの（アサド）政権側がサリンとみられる化学兵器を使ったという評価に至った」（アメリカ　ヘーゲル国防長官）

テレビ朝日は「小規模な化学兵器」と訳していますが、used chemical weapons on a small scaleなので、「化学兵器を小規模に使用した」の方が誤解を招かないでしょうね。海外ニュースに関しては、日本メディアはあまり信用しない方がいいでしょう。

介入するかどうか、介入するならどの程度まで、アメリカのメディアでは大きく報じられるようになっているようです。
