（小ネタ）英語でも予約は「取る」もの？

さっきのPomodoroネタでもう一つ。

Pomodoro takes reservations, but they should be made well in advance.

Pomodoroは予約を受けているが、十分に前もって行うのがよいだろう。

会社の英語を勉強中の同僚から「「予約を取る」って英語で言う時にtakeでいいんですか？」と聞かれたことを思い出しました。もちろんTOEIC学習者は「予約を取る」はmake a reservationだよと即答できると思うんですが。。。

ロングマンはコロケーションを囲みで紹介してくれていました。

じゃあtakeはどんな時かというと最初の例のように店側が予約を受ける場合に使われるんですね。公式問題集には以下のような文もありました。

Demand is high, especially during peak seasons, so book your room early. We take reservations up to a year in advance.

今回のトピックはL&Rでは勘違いの原因にはならないかもしれませんが、発信する際に無意識に日本語に引っ張られてしまうことってあるかもしれません。

（利用者が予約をする場合）make a reservation
（レストランやホテルなどが予約を受ける場合）take a reservation
