すでに知られていることですがアマゾンは映画やテレビ番組の制作にも携わっていますよね。2017年のアカデミー賞の主演男優賞と脚本賞を受賞した『マンチェスター・バイ・ザ・シー』なんかもアマゾン配給なんですね。

アマゾン・スタジオ（Amazon Studios）はAmazon.comのテレビ番組や映画の制作・配信を中心とする部門[2]。2010年の後期に設立された。コンテンツはAmazonのストリーミングサービスであるAmazonビデオを通じて配信されており、アマゾンの競合サービスとしてはネットフリックスやHuluが存在する。

Amazon Studios is a subsidiary of Amazon that focuses on developing television series, and distributing and producing films and comics from online submissions and crowd-sourced feedback. It was started in late 2010. Content is distributed through Amazon Video, Amazon's digital video streaming service, and is a competitor to services like Netflix and Hulu.

渡辺さんの記事によると、アマゾンの出版社は売れる作品に注力しているようですが、映像面では渋いドキュメンタリーにも携わっていました。先日『ラッカは静かに虐殺されている』を見に行ったのですが、エンドロールにアマゾンスタジオとあって驚いたんで今回取り上げてみました。

次々と殺されていく仲間や家族。そして自らにも忍び寄る暗殺の魔の手。

戦後史上最悪の人道危機と言われるシリア内戦。2014年、その内戦において過激思想と武力で勢力を拡大する「イスラム国（IS）」が制圧したシリア北部の街ラッカ。かつて「天国」と呼ばれ、穏やかだった街はISの首都とされ一変する。爆撃で廃墟と化した街では残忍な公開処刑が繰り返され、市民は常に死の恐怖と隣り合わせの生活を強いられていた。海外メディアも報じることができない惨状を国際社会に伝えるため、匿名の市民ジャーナリスト集団“RBSS”（ Raqqa is Being Slaughtered Silently/ラッカは静かに虐殺されている）は結成された。彼らはスマホを武器に「街の真実」を次々とSNSに投稿、そのショッキングな映像に世界が騒然となるも、RBSSの発信力に脅威を感じたISは直ぐにメンバーの暗殺計画に乗り出す――。
