辞書にないwrap my head around

基本表現の習熟を疎かにして、辞書に載っていないイディオムを学んで優越感に浸るのは控えないといけないのですが、結構見かけるのに載っていないものは覚えておいても損はないかもしれません。とは言っても英辞郎は載せてくれていましたし、ブログで紹介してくださっている人もいました。

例文にもあるように、もっぱら「理解できない」「理解しようとしてもできない」という表現で使われるものみたいです。

TEDの0:58あたりではI couldn't wrap my head aroundが使われています。

こちらのTEDの4:05あたりではtrying to wrap my head aroundが使われています。

使われる文脈としては全く理解できない状況に直面して発せらるもののようです。New York Timesでの使用例で見てみます。まずはロシア軍に占領されていたウクライナの町での住民の声。いきなり戦車やミサイル攻撃を受けるのは理不尽で理解不能ですよね。
