アマゾンの手の平で。。。

Kindle SingleというかたちでStephen Kingが銃規制を訴えるGunsというエッセイを発表したことはご紹介させていただきました。キンドルファイアは上記の写真のようにメニュー画面の下に同じトピックの商品がプロモートされます。そこで目に入ったのが以下の2作品でした。

表紙を見るだけでもGunsのエッセイに反対してのものだなと想像できますよね。

This essay is in response to Mr. King's recent publication, Guns.

こういう反応がすぐに起きることからしても、銃規制に対するアレルギーが強い人たちがいることが伺えますね。まあ、内容はキングの意見をこきおろしていること、そして、キングの足元にも及ばない表現力だろうということは想像できましたが、興味本位でGuns at Stephen King's Head: A Satireの方を読んでみました。

始まりは以下のような引用句から始まります。よっぽど自由の侵害に敏感なんでしょうね。

まあ、内容は予想通り、スカスカで、銃規制反対の説得力はとぼしかった印象です。はっきり言ってお金の無駄ですね。ざっくり説明すれば、キングの主張によって銃規制がなされたことで、逆に治安が悪化して、キング自身の身も危険にさらされることになったという、単純極まりないものでした。。。。

銃規制の難しさの一端を垣間見れただけでもいいとしますが、こういう応酬は面白いかたちだなと思いました。簡単に発表できる電子書籍ならではですよね。新たな表現のあり方を見た気がします。
