英辞郎にも載っていないけど、要チェックの語

先ほどのGMのCEOの動画ではWhat’s the biggest takeaway, the biggest lesson learned through all of this?とtakeawayがlesson learnedと同じような意味で使われていました。この意味では、オックスフォードやロングマンの学習英英辞典では掲載されていませんでした。従って、ジーニアスもウィズダムにも見出しが立っていませんでした。そこそこ使われる語だと思いますが、要チェックというほどではないです。英辞郎になかったのがショックだったのでタイトルは煽り気味に書いてしまいました（汗）TOEICでは今のところ使われていないと思います。

I just wonder broadly. What’s the biggest takeaway, the biggest lesson learned through all of this?

オックスフォードの学習辞典はこの意味を掲載していませんでしたが、ネイティブ向けの辞書には以下のようにあります。次の版では載るかもしれませんね。

実際によく使われる表現を紹介するのは、英語教師や英語教材では弱い所ですね。まあ、知らなくてもいいとは言えますが、どうせ習うなら、仕事で使う英語に慣れている人に教わりたいですよね。NHK入門ビジネス英語の関谷先生は以下のようにtakeawayを取り上げていました。

* repeat では、同じ言葉を繰り返されるが、go over ... again だと表現を
かえて説明してくれる可能性が高まる

最近ではよくプレゼンの最後に、key takeaways としてそれまでの
話の内容を箇条書きにまとめたものをスライド1枚で示すやり方を目にする。
key takeaway = キーポイント、学んで帰ること


「教訓」だけでなく「まとめ」のような意味もあるようですね。下記の記事などは、「まとめ」に近い意味でtakeawayを使っています。
