オバマ大統領も祝福

最新号の雑誌TIMEでマララさんのノーベル平和賞を受賞をオバマ大統領が寄稿して歓迎していました。下記のようにホワイトハウスでも受賞時にプレスリリースを出していますし、昨年の10月にはホワイトハウスをマララさんは訪問していますね。昨年の10月といえばマララさんの著作が出たタイミングです。今回の受賞も含めて、思う所のある「陰謀論者」たちがいそうです。

この文は文法好きの学習者が喜びそうですね。award A（人） B（モノ）で目的語を2つとる動詞の受動態の文です。TOEICでは「契約を獲得する」の意味の文で登場していましたが、受賞のケースでも使われていそうですね。

alongsideやalong withといった表現は読解時にはなんてことがないかもしれませんが、英作文で使いこなせると結構便利ですね。

TOEICだとunlock a doorのような具体的な文脈で使われることが多いですが、「可能性を開花させる」ような意味でのコローケーションとして使われるようです。
